Maryland-DC QSO Party Rules for 2008
Now in our 19th year of F U N

Contest Date:
August 9, 2008 from 1600 UTC through August 10, 2008 0400 UTC and August 10, 2008, from 1600 through 2359 UTC


Many certificates will be awarded including:

- 10 Best MDC Single Ops -
- Best Score per State and DX Country -
- Best MD YL -
- Best QRP entry from any state -
- Top 3 MDC Clubs, and others! -


Plus:
- Certificates will be awarded to all stations with 50 or more QSO POINTS in their entry! -


Plaques to be Awarded:

Highest Score from a:
- Maryland Club or Multi-Op -
- MDC Single Op (HF + VHF/UHF) -
- MDC Mobile -
- Station Outside MDC -
- MDC QRP -
- Non-MDC QRP -
and

- Highest Scoring Antietam Radio Club Member -
(Regardless of total entries)
(Multiple plaques may be awarded to the same station if they win in different categories)

The Contest:
- Non-MDC stations must work MDC stations for score -
- MDC stations may work the world (we hope!) -
- Club entries must be from a single QTH -
- Non-MDC club entries are included in the regular Non-MDC category.
- Phone and CW contacts are allowed -
- ATV contacts count as "Phone" -
- Digital contacts (RTTY, PSK-31, Packet, etc.) count as "CW"-
- No repeater or digipeater contacts are allowed. All contacts must be simplex -
- Split frequency QSOs are allowed in the same band ONLY -
- Stations may be worked only once per band using each mode (either Phone or CW) -
- Stations that change MD counties or state lines (Mobile stations) may be worked again for QSO Points as different stations -


Exchange:
- QTH and Category -
- For MDC entries, your QTH is your county, Baltimore City, or Washington, DC. See list below. -
- For all others, your QTH is either your state, Canadian Province or DX country (other than Canada) -
- US Possessions (Guam, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, etc.) count as DX -
- Alaska and Hawaii count as states and not DX -

Categories: You may enter as either a
- CLUB, MOBILE, QRP or STANDARD (STD) station -
- Multi-op stations are considered a CLUB (using one call-sign as entry) -
- Stations will send the category that reflects their highest point value to the station worked.


Suggested Frequencies:

1.895, 3.643, 3.920, 7.060, 7.230, 14.060, 14.270, 21.060, 21.370, 28.035, 28.370, 50.150, 52.525, 144.150, 146.550, 146.580, 432.150, 439.250 (ATV) and 446.000 MHz.

Scoring:

- Entries MUST specify a category or they will be assumed to be a STANDARD entry -
- All submissions (both electronic and hard copy) MUST include a complete summary sheet in addition to the actual log -
- Electronic submissions MUST include the summary as a text (ASCII) file in a machine readable format (line breaks, etc) -

- Text (ASCII) summary sheets will be available for download -
- This sheet (or a reasonable facsimile) must be included with all logs -

- The decisions about the acceptance of any log and summary sheet are at the discretion of the judges and the committee -

Total your QSO Points and multiply by the sum of the multipliers for your final score.
Multipliers may be claimed only once and they do not repeat from band-to-band.

Note: No licensed amateur who participates in the MDC Party as part of a mobile team consisting of two or more licensed amateurs in the same vehicle may work that station with whom they participated for scoring credit.

QSO Points:
 
10 points per CLUB station
5 points per MOBILE station
4 points per QRP station
3 points for CW (Digital) station
1 point for STANDARD (Home) stations

Remember- Only the highest single point value may be applied per QSO.


Multipliers:

For MDC Stations ONLY:
One multipler for each MD county, Baltimore City and Washington, DC plus each of the other 49 states plus each Canadian province plus each additional DX country (except Canada)

For stations outside MDC:
One for each MD county, Baltimore City and/or Washington, DC (maximum 25 possible)

Deadline:

Logs, Scoring summary and SASE must be received on or before Monday, September 15, 2008 at either:
Antietam Radio Association, P.O. Box 52, Hagerstown, MD 21741-0052
or e-mailed in plain (ASCII) text, MSWord or MSExcel format to:
<MDC.LOGS@VERIZON.NET>.

Note: A contest summary must be included!
